Definition:

Shelving / racking is the most important issue in intra-logistics and for warehouses. To that end, choosing optimum Storage system for a warehouse can help handling items better and manage the warehouse. Drive-In racking storage system is a type of racking which has unique features that distinguish it from other types of racking.
Drive-In racking is one of the various industrial steel racking systems that have high load capacity and dense storage feature. This storage system consists tunnels in which unit loads up to 2000 kg can be stored on every 4-bracket arm at each level. Method of loads storage & retrieval in this system is LIFO. This type of racking has various components (such as, frames, bracket arms, support rails and ceiling & vertical back bracings) and can be used for cold store warehouse and warehouses with heavy loads. In this system, pallet racking access aisles are removed and there is only one access aisle to Drive-in tunnels for storage and retrieving unit loads by fork trucks, which result in 75% usage of area & volume of ware house.                                                                                                                                                                    The forklift enters each tunnel and loads pallets from back of tunnel (bottom- up) or unload from front of tunnel (up-bottom). Drive-in racking height can be up to 10 meters and system bay span can be 1350 – 1500 mm depending on the type of fork lift. System tunnel depth range can be from 2 to 8 pallets.
